Porta Antica is on Via Gombito, the street that climbs to Piazza Vecchia: a hundred metres and you are there. Four rooms, each named after a place in the upper town, with its own corten plaque on the door. You let yourself in at any hour, and we take care of the restricted-traffic permit.

Via Gombito is the street that leads to Piazza Vecchia: a hundred metres of cobbles and you are there. The Cathedral and Santa Maria Maggiore are two minutes away, the funicular down to the lower town four hundred. Downstairs there are the arcades with their shops, and in the evening you hear the Campanone bell from your bed.

The house

The rooms are not just numbers: each carries the name of a place you can walk to from here, with a corten plaque on the door and a line drawing of that place above the bed. Whoever sleeps in the Cappella Colleoni finds it two hundred metres away; whoever sleeps in the Lavatoio walks past it coming home in the evening.
Inside, the colour changes and little else: green in Porta S. Giacomo, blue in Piazza Vecchia, olive in Lavatoio, ochre in Cappella Colleoni. All four have air conditioning, a coffee machine, a safe, a minibar and a private bathroom with a shower.
